The Boston Celtics took Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night, beating the Dallas Mavericks 107-89. The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum, who scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Jaylen Brown added 21 points for Boston, while Malcolm Brogdon came off the bench to score 18 points. The Celtics jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. They led by 10 points at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 19 points by halftime. The Mavericks made a run in the third quarter, but the Celtics were able to weather the storm and close out the game in the fourth quarter. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. However, he was not able to get enough help from his teammates. Spencer Dinwiddie was the only other Mavericks player to score in double figures, finishing with 15 points. The Celtics now have a 1-0 lead in the series, and they will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead when the series shifts to Dallas for Game 2 on Sunday night.
