England beat Netherlands 2-1 to reach Euro 2024 final
Watkins scores late winner as Three Lions edge out Dutch
Harry Kane's penalty cancelled out by Memphis Depay's strike but Watkins clinches victory with last-gasp goal
England are through to the final of Euro 2024 after beating the Netherlands 2-1 in a thrilling semi-final at Wembley.
Gareth Southgate's side looked to be heading for extra-time after Memphis Depay cancelled out Harry Kane's penalty, but Ollie Watkins popped up with a dramatic winner in the 90th minute.
The victory sets up a mouthwatering final against Spain, who beat Italy 2-0 in the other semi-final.
England started the game brightly and took the lead after 10 minutes when Denzel Dumfries was adjudged to have fouled Sterling in the penalty area.
Kane stepped up to take the spot-kick and coolly slotted the ball past Jasper Cillessen.
The Netherlands responded well to going behind and levelled the scores just after the half-hour mark.
Frenkie de Jong released Depay with a defence-splitting pass and the Barcelona forward finished with aplomb.
England continued to press for a winner and were unlucky not to retake the lead when Sterling's shot hit the crossbar.
With time running out, it looked as though the game was heading for extra-time, but Watkins had other ideas.
The Aston Villa forward latched onto a long ball from Jordan Henderson and fired a low shot past Cillessen to send England into raptures.
The victory is a major triumph for Southgate and his team.
England have now reached their first major final since the 1966 World Cup and will be looking to win their first European Championship since 1966.
